Playa
Blanca was once a
small fishing village located on the most southerly tip of Lanzarote. It
has since developed into Lanzarote's third resort but has retained its
local character and remains a quiet and tranquil spot.
Built
around the small bustling harbour and a small beach, you will find a
good selection of shops, restaurants, whitewashed buildings and a pretty
seafront. Ferries operate between the harbour and the neighbouring
island of Fuerteventura, famous for its sand dunes.
The white sandy beaches of Playa Flamingo and Playa Dorada are connected
by a beautiful sea front promenade which winds its way past the harbour,
shops and restaurants and continues to the most recent development in
Playa Blanca, the Marina Rubicon.
The Marina Rubicon is a
sea front development of upmarket restaurants and designer boutiques.
This ia a beautiful spot to admire the luxury yachts, have a meal, enjoy
the weekly market or take a boat trip to the Papagayo
beaches.
The Papagayo beaches, approximatley three miles from the centre of Playa
Blanca, are accessed either by dirt tracks for which a small entrance
fee is payable or by boat. The beaches have limited public facilites, such as toilets
and refreshments but are considered to be some of the best beaches on
Lanzarote and are a beautiful spot to watch the sunset over Playa
Blanca.
The relaxed atmosphere of Playa Blanca is ideal for those looking for a
peaceful break away. Approximate transfer time of 40 minutes. (Playa
